Greater Miami & Miami Beach’s craft beer scene is booming. The flavors you’ll find are as varied as the neighborhoods they call home, blending tropical fruits into sours and crisp Latin lagers. No matter your beer taste or where you find yourself in Miami, there’s a local brewery nearby to quench your thirst.
Open since 1995, Abbey Brewing Co. is the oldest brew pub in Miami Beach. This hole-in-the-wall is a classic dive bar, complete with a dartboard and pool tables. Founded by brewmaster Raymond Rigazio, this ultra-casual spot offers a mix of imported European beers, hard-to-find Trappist ales and barley wines, more than 150 bourbons and – of course – Abbey Brewing Co.’s own original brews.

Biscayne Bay Brewing is nestled on the third floor of a historic building in Downtown Miami that used to be the home of the city’s main post office. Now it’s a big, bright space that fuses the old with the new. Pillars and beams from the original structure support tropical wood décor dotted with banana plants. The beers make the space even more welcoming, with the legendary Tropical Bay IPA and Colada Porter holding down an ever-changing menu. You can also try the beers at Miami Marlins games, as Biscayne Bay Brewing has a small beer hall inside loanDepot park.
100 NE 1st Ave., 3rd Floor, Miami, FL 33132
A modern take on Cuba’s oldest brewery, Cerveceria La Tropical is a Cuban-inspired taproom, restaurant and botanical beer garden in Wynwood. Head to the bar to order the popular La Original Ámbar Lager, or imagine you’re in Old Havana as you sip and stroll through the garden, admiring vibrant murals by local painters. The food alone is a good reason to go – the menu is packed with tropical treats like Cuban sandwich empanadas, jerk smoked chicken, and sea salt tostones topped with ceviche.
42 NE 25th St., Miami, FL 33137
Set in a tropical indoor-outdoor space with a reclaimed driftwood bar, a library, graffiti artwork and colorful outdoor seating surrounded by buttonwood trees, Veza Sur Brewing Co. beckons you to stay awhile. With distinctly Latin roots – “Veza Sur” comes from the Spanish words for “beer,” (cerveza) and “south,” (sur) – the name is a nod to the founders’ travels throughout South America. These beers are designed for Miami’s subtropical climate, so expect craft ales, IPAs, sours and a Brazilian “Chopp,” topped with a thick, tasty foam.
55 NW 25th St., Miami, FL 33127
This Little River brewery isn’t so much a taproom as a shaded backyard where you can kick back with a beer. Yes, the main building has a handful of bar seats and booths where you can sip a Golden Rules American Blonde, MiMo Wheat or Sushi Bar/Pizza Place lager. And they’re all enjoyable indoors, accompanied by live music, karaoke or stand-up comedy. But Magic 13's real “magic” is on its outdoor patio, where you can relax under a shady tree and enjoy one of Miami’s perfect sunny afternoons or balmy evenings.
340 NE 61st St., Miami, FL 33137
For a variety of great beers in a rustic setting, try Lost City Brewing Company in North Miami, founded by Diego Escobar. Head to Lost City’s tasting room and its lush beer garden to sample everything from traditional brews to a stout that tastes like flan, a lemongrass blonde ale and a Belgian Tripel. There are a variety of food options onsite to enjoy with the beers.
12207 NE 13th Court, North Miami, FL 33161
The atmosphere at King Fox, a family-owned brewery tucked away in a strip mall in Hialeah, is inviting, with a smattering of tables and chairs set up like a casita’s patio. The beers pack a serious punch, with favorites like the 8.6% ABV Dan Flashes Hazy Double IPA and 15% ABV Drums in the Deep Imperial Stout offering a big bang for your buck.
6520 W. 20th Ave., Unit 1, Hialeah, FL 33016
The Tank Brewing Co. occupies a 25,000-square-foot building on the outskirts of Doral, whipping up “liquid innovation.” Choose from 16 Miami-inspired craft beers on tap, including the Belgian-style La Finca Miami wheat, Freedom Tower Amber Ale, La Playita Pils and El Farito IPA. Expect a fun industrial vibe here, with high ceilings, exposed ductwork and classic games such as cornhole, dominoes, cards and life-size Jenga.
5100 NW 72nd Ave., Bay A1, Miami, FL 33166
Once upon a time, four friends started brewing beer in their garage in Venezuela. After visiting breweries all over the world, they opened their own craft brewery in the Miami area. The Doral-based Tripping Animals Brewing Co. is a popular place to hang out, listen to music, get artsy, play pool or ping-pong and – of course – drink beer. At this creative brewery, expect unique sours using local fruit. Some even taste like smoothies. Beer purists can also opt for the Cooler than a Polar Bear’s Toenail’s pilsner, which tastes especially good when served arctic-cold.
2685 NW 105th Ave., Doral, FL 33172
When your brewery is named after a notorious 1920s rum runner, a little bit of secrecy is naturally part of your brand. Such is the case with Spanish Marie Brewing in Kendall. It’s the creation of two longtime friends and Miami natives who’ve given their suburban brewery a distinctly prohibition-era feel. The 10-seat tasting room is hidden behind a secret door, and head brewer Jaime Medina comes up with some of the most unique creations in Miami. The lineup of fruited sours is perfect for adventurous drinkers. You can enjoy a short menu of beer slushies as well as tacos, pizzas and quesadillas.
14251 SW 120th St., Suite 108, Miami, FL 33186
Lincoln’s Beard Brewing Co. has made a name for itself in the Bird Road Art District, a collection of warehouses just east of the Palmetto Expressway. The industrial space juxtaposes exposed ductwork with a homey, vintage feel, paying homage to “Honest Abe” with its name and the thousands of pennies glued to its bar. Beer lovers will find Lincoln’s Beard’s own brews here, such as the P. Swayze IPA and the Morning Glory Blonde Ale, as well as wine and “guest beverages” from other Miami breweries.
7360 SW 41st St., Miami, FL 33155
Unseen Creatures doesn’t refer to some imaginary monsters that inspired co-founders Marco and Vicky Leyte-Vidal’s brewing imaginations. It’s a reference to the yeasts and bacteria that give their beers an unmistakably funky flavor. If you’re a fan of European farmhouse-style beers, make your way to this spot in the Bird Road Art District, where you’ll taste the fullness of the fermentation process in the Strawberry Calamity fruited sour or the Artefact Saison farmhouse ale.
4178 SW 74th Court, Miami, FL 33155
If your knowledge of Australian beer doesn’t extend much past a giant blue can, check out this chic brewpub. Named after a particularly boisterous section of the Melbourne Cricket Grounds, Bay 13 brings authentic Down Under-style beers to Coral Gables. Try the Old Man, a Belgian-style wheat ale that’s as smooth as a sunny day in Sydney. Or opt for the Woop Woop, made with real Aussie hops. In addition to the beer menu, you’ll find a big list of Australian wines and dishes like bangers and mash, rack of lamb and other hearty comfort food.
